Unclutter Your Cupboards
Start by taking everything out of your cupboards and wipe down all your shelves. Throw away anything that is expired and donate anything that you won’t use. Next, organize your cupboards with items that are similar. For example, put all your spices in one cupboard, all your containers in another cupboard, and all your cleaning supplies in another cupboard. Get bins and organizers that can help you store your items so that every label is visible. Once your cupboards and closets are organized, it will make the rest of your spring cleaning tasks easier.
Do a Deep Cleaning
Spring is a good time to give your house a deep cleaning. Take all your pictures off the walls and wash your walls with a mild detergent. Dust your pictures while you have them off the walls too. Wipe down all of your crown moulding and baseboards to remove all the dust. Next, clean all of your light fixtures and change any light bulbs that might be burnt out. Get out your scrub brush and get a mildew removing detergent to clean your bathtubs and showers as well. Finally, give your floors a hand-scrubbing and if you have hardwood floors, try adding a drop of essential oils to the water to make your hardwood floors shine.
Revamp Your Décor
Do you have items in your house that have been collecting dust for thirty years? Pile all your décor together and keep only the pieces that you love and that make you happy. Donate everything else. Then find a new spot to put each piece and it will feel like a new house!
